About Dot Ball

Dot Ball is where two passions of mine combine. All things graphic design and the strange but welcoming world of cricket, which offers so much to so many. The most social of all sports, a real community.

As a graphic designer of 30 years I felt the need for another creative outlet. What better way than combining my favourite sport and hobby. Niche I know!

Having played as a junior I found myself drifting away from the game, only to return when my children were old enough and took up the sport. Spending so many hours watching, I was drawn back in and found my love for the game was stronger than it every was. No better way to spend a Saturday.

After a retirement that lasted nearly 20 years I was back, and through a generous captain I got to open with my then young lad. There wasn't the fairytale ending, both managing to get ducked! Oh well, it got the bug back and 8 years on I'm still turning out on a Saturday, when required. But nothing gives me more pleasure than watching my two charge in.

As we all know cricket is a data goldmine. Every match, every over, every delivery is a story waiting to be told in numbers and shapes. So why not turn that glorious chaos and calm into art? Hence, Dot Ball was born, an online shop designed for cricket and design minded people. Including prints that celebrate the game's intricacies alongside accessories that make perfect gifts for the cricket nuts in our lives.

I'm just scratching the surface with the current range. The possibilities are endless and lots more work in the pipeline. If you’ve got a desire to see a particular cricket moment (of any standard!) immortalised in data art to hang on your walls...just let me know!

Ultimately, I hope my work captures that unique appreciation we all have for the game – maybe even the quiet satisfaction of a perfectly executed dot ball.
